true petrolhead
  • Consider upgrading your ignition to an electronic 123 ignition system
  • Velleman K2599 intermittent wiper kit, costs 15 euros and is easy to build and install
  • Fit Superflex bushes for improved handling and control of the car
  • Fit a bike computer for accurate registration of speed, distance, etc. We choose the Sigma BC1200. Costs around 18 euros.
  • Use good quality tyres, this has great impact on the handling and feel of the car, my suggestion is 165*15 Michelin XZX
  • Convert the voltage stabilizer to an electronic version if you want proper working instruments, we managed to put the electronic parts in the original housing
  • Upgrade the lightbulbs in the instruments to a higher wattage (?), your local electronics shop can help you out
  • Check if the heater valve unter the bonnet shuts properly, if the valve does not close complety you have a permanent working heater. And this is a very common problem!
  • Put a power cutoff switch in the negative battery lead for improved safety and as an anti-theft device. We mounted the switch on the vertical panel behind the drivers seat. Costs 10 euros and makes working on the car a lot safer
  • If you have halogen headlamps, use relais switches or else your headlamp switch will melt slowly but surely
  • Buy or make a special tool for those nasty bullet connectors. Safes you a lot of electric problems. Renew old connectors whenever you work on the wiring.
  • Check the linkages in the pedal box, many classics have a lot of free play at these points
